Spring Audition Registration for Oakland Youth Orchestras Online April 2-May 20, 2018

String, woodwind, brass, and percussion instrumentalists, ages 7-18, who are interested in advancing their musical skills are invited to audition for membership in Oakland Youth Orchestras (OYO).

Audition signup for the 2018-2019 season begins April 2nd online at www.oyomi.org and extends through May 20, 2018. Merit and financial based scholarships are available. Auditions take place at Varner Hall, Oakland University.

The four orchestras that comprise OYO serve over 350 students in grades two through twelve from Oakland, Genesee, Macomb, Sanilac, St. Clair and Lapeer counties.

“OYO adds so much value to a student’s future. Colleges see ability to go deeper and work hard-er, employers see the ability to stick with something even when it gets harder, and the student gains fulfillment as they continue to enrich their repertoire and knowledge of music in general. Literally the best place to help a student grow up.” — Ramona Stamp, OYO Parent

All returning and prospective members audition for placement into one of OYO’s four orchestras. Auditions assist conductors in placing each student at the appropriate skill level to provide a challenging musical experience within a supportive environment. For details about the orchestras, visit www.oyomi.org/join-oyo.

Students and parents are invited to attend an Open House where they can observe rehearsals, and meet the Conductors and Board Members, who will be available to answer questions about the program.
