Oakland Youth Orchestras’ Celebrates 25 Years with Senior Director Zeljko Milicevic at its Fall Concert
ROCHESTER, MI – Oct. 22, 2018 — Oakland Youth Orchestras’ (OYO) celebrates 25 Years with Senior Director Zeljko Milicevic at its fall concert on Nov.1, 2018.
The concert will be held at the Oxford Fine Arts Center at 6:30 p.m. Oxford Fine Arts Center is located at Oxford High School, 745 N. Oxford Road, Oxford, MI 48371.
Tickets will be available at the door: Adults–$10, children and students–$5, and ticket quartets–$30 (includes four tickets).
The four orchestras that comprise OYO will perform classical works and fall favorites such as Transylvanian Tango, March of the Shadows, Rosin Eating Zombies From Outer Space and Danse Macabre.
Milicevic an OYO alumnus, started 25 years ago as a conductor of an orchestra with 64 musicians. Through careful planning and foresight, he helped create a foundation that evolved into the current 4-tiered orchestra program of 350 members.
“OYO is much more than a youth orchestra– it inspires, encourages and changes lives,“ Milicevic reminisced, “I link many of the greatest outcomes in my life to OYO both personally and professionally.”
Zeljko Milicevic received his Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education and Violin Performance from Wayne State University and his Master of Music in Education from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. In 2007, he earned a Certificate in Orchestral Studies from Wayne State University with an emphasis in Conducting and Violin Performance.
A sought-after clinician and adjudicator, Milicevic began his service in public education in 1990. He has conducted orchestra programs in Royal Oak Neighborhood Schools, Utica Community Schools, Farmington Public Schools and Oxford Community Schools. In addition, he has been on staff as Adjunct Professor of String Pedagogy at Oakland University in Rochester, MI since 2005.
As an avid musician he performs with various symphonies and ensembles including: Flint
Symphony Orchestra, Bijou Orchestra, Ivybrooke Strings, Classic Impressions String Quartet and The Troubadours ensemble.
Presently, Milicevic serves as Music Director and Conductor of the Rochester Symphony Orchestra, Conductor of the Detroit Medical Orchestra at the Medical School at Wayne State University and Senior Conductor with the Oakland Youth Orchestras directing the Symphony Orchestra.
