Established in 1975, Oakland Youth Symphony was founded with a vision to offer an opportunity for students to enrich their musical education. Fifty years later, now known as the Oakland Youth Orchestras, it comprises four orchestras, providing experiences for nearly 350 elementary through high school students, attracting students who want to be challenged musically, and who seek to find a broader community of like-minded fellow musicians.
