Every season, OYO awards $125 Merit Scholarships to 12 students to be applied toward their music education – ie lessons, instrument upgrade, music camp, etc. Applicants must be enrolled in Oakland Youth Orchestras and active for the current season. The application process includes the student completing a short answer questionnaire and essay, a conductor review of the student’s performance in their orchestra, and the student’s attendance record all of which is reviewed by committee.
